The Friends of Kirkcudbright Swimming Pool worked tirelessly for more than 10 years to raise the money required to build a pool in the town. Their mission statement is “to make Kirkcudbright a Swimming Town.”
The ‘Friends’ have walked, run, cycled, raffled, held exhibitions, fashion shows and coffee mornings. They also worked to seek funding from various organisations and researched suitable building designs with the specifications they required. The Pool opened its doors in 1997 and still the ‘Friends’ continue to raise funds in order to keep the Pool running.

The ‘Friends’ run the Swimming Pool Charity Shop in St Mary Street in the town which is a major funding source for the Pool. The shop is open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays throughout the year.
